A new hope

Kristy and I have insulated ourselves from googling/reading about pregnancy and baby problems over the last 5 weeks. Our doctors keep asking if we want to speak to the neonatologist, but we keep putting it off until later. Our thinking is that we want to keep our hope in the moment. However, while reading the paper today, we saw a story that definitely lifted our spirits. Apparently, Riley delivered a set of quintuplets last October and after 11 weeks, they are all safe and going home. The smallest named Annabelle was delivered at a birth weight of 1 lb 5 oz, almost what Jack weighs now. Here's the story:

On Nick's second day of life, right after the doctors tried to persuade us to "unplug" him, I made a promise to not hear, speak, or think anything negative! People thought my head was in the sand - but I knew that that was what my baby needed. The doctors are AMAZING but they can only tell you what MIGHT happen; keep your faith strong, only expect the positive, and KNOW the joys that await all four of you! You two are already amazing parents! (Stepping down off my soapbox.... :-)

An amazing story. And to think you're less than two weeks away from their delivery date; wow! When Kristy was admitted, delivery seemed so (hopefully) far away. All of a sudden, you're on your way to week 27! "Hurry up and wait" has never been one of my strong suits, but time certainly is passing well when you look back! If only it went by that fast as it is happening... :-)
