At 2AM this morning, the neo came into our room and recommended that Ella be put on the respirator. She seemed to be getting tired out from the past 36 hours. After some questioning, we concurred. She'll also got a dose of surfactant and responded well to both measures.
Jack is staying fairly stable. He's getting another platelet transfusion this morning.
Rounds are about 10:30.

The respirator will allow her to rest and allow her to continue to grow. Though it does look scary to see your babies hooked up to all those machines, wires and tubes. You'll look back in a few months when they are much bigger and see this as just a beginning to an eventful life ahead with two adventurous twins.
I know it's hard to see the positives when you look at your babies that are so little and are reminded of the downs, more than the ups... but they are receiving the best care possible. They are fighters, they have made it this far and will make leaps and bounds in the coming days, weeks and months.
One positive from being in the NICU with all those machines and alarms is that they will get used to sleeping with so much noise. Ethan can sleep thru lots loud noises, like the trash truck and the testing of the tornado sirens.
Praying for an "up" day for the babies and for a fast recovery for Kristy.
